To all in the CIE family,
This year has certainly not been as expected when we sent our end of year greetings in 2019. However, in spite of the disruption that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused, the CIE has remained extremely active. We raised to the challenge of moving our events online, enabling us to reach a wider audience globally, and the work of the CIE Divisions and TCs has progressed with an increased use of online meetings to support these.
As we end this year we have already announced the publication of CIE S 017/E:2020 The ILV: International Lighting Vocabulary, 2nd Edition. As a follow up to this the electronic version of the ILV, the e-ILV, has now been updated and can be found online at cie.co.at/e-ilv – we are sure this is going to be a great resource. In addition to the ILV and the e-ILV a short video has been made to introduce this important CE international standard, this video features several of the CIE,Board members from around the world.
With all the lessons that have been learnt from this unpredictable year the CIE is certainly looking forward to 2021, with the hope of better times to come, including a superb Midterm Meeting, CIE 2021, which will be hosted by the National Committee of Malaysia (MyCIE).
